Robert Katende Documentary: A Fork, A Spoon and A Knight
This is the story of Robert Katende,
founder and director of the Sports
Outreach Chess Academy and coach of Phiona
Mutesi, the Queen of Katwe. This
documentary film chronicles Katende's
life, from living in the bush as a child
to attending college, playing soccer, and
later becoming a missionary. At one point
in Robert Katende's life, all that he had
to his name was a fork, a spoon and a
mattress. The film was directed by Mira
Nair, who also directed the Disney movie
about Mutesi,
Queen of Katwe.
