Phiona Mutesi Interview
Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi is
interviewed on
News Room in 2014.
The teen, who grew up in the slums of
Katwe, talks about how chess has opened
her eyes and has given her hope. Her chess
coach, Robert Katende, also speaks, as
well as author Tim Crothers, who wrote the
book on which the Disney movie about
Phiona's life is based. During the
interview, Phiona says that she hopes to
one day become a doctor and a grandmaster
at chess.
