Frank Mundus Sets Record for Largest Shark Ever Caught by Rod and Reel

On August 6, 1986, Frank Mundus and Don Braddick caught a 3,427-pound great white shark roughly 28 miles off the coast of Montauk, New York. Controversy surrounded the catch, with some insinuating Mundus had killed the whale that the sharks were feeding on. Related Article: Jaws: History vs. Hollywood
