Surrender" speech that he delivered on
June 4, 1940 after the successful Dunkirk
Evacuation, also known as "Operation
Dynamo". This is the full Winston
Churchill Dunkirk speech. He begins by
describing the details of the evacuation,
but warns, "We must be very careful not to
assign to this deliverance the attributes
of a victory. Wars are not won by
evacuations." He also praises the efforts
of the Air Force, who beat back much of
the German Luftwaffe, making the
evacuation possible.
