Don Shirley Interview
This Dr. Donald Shirley interview features
the pianist talking about his childhood,
his marriage that ended in divorce, and
how the color of his skin kept him from
fulfilling his dream of becoming a
classical musician. He discusses the
conditions of his dressing rooms, being a
supposed threat to white women, and his
various accomplishments. During the
interview, we also see images of his
family members, including his mother and
father. The excerpts are from the
