See footage of Jesse Owens competing in
the men's long jump against Luz Long at
the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany.
Owens and Long formed a friendship during
the competition, much to the dislike of
the Nazi officials who were watching. Luz
Long, a lawyer who studied at the
University of Leipzig, died fighting for
Germany in WWII at the Battle of San
Pietro in December 1943.
