In Tudor England, the educated queen
consort, Katherine Parr (Alicia Vikander),
reluctantly agrees to become the sixth
wife of King Henry VIII (Jude Law), whose
previous wives either disappeared, died,
or were beheaded. As the King grows
increasingly sick and paranoid, Katherine
becomes focused on surviving his wrath
while quietly expressing support for the
nation's radicals.
