"We Had Killed Our Own" - Compton & Liebgott's Tragic Friendly Fire Incident | Band of Brothers
Band of Brothers leaves out one
of the most tragic incidents involving
Easy Company during World War II. In this
video, we explore the largely untold story
of a friendly fire incident involving Buck
Compton and Joe Liebgott in Normandy not
long after the Brécourt Manor
Assault. Compton spotted two men dressed
in German ponchos and one was carrying a
Mauser rifle. We share the words of Buck
Compton, who described the tragic World
War II event, which still haunted him
decades later. It is a moment involving
Easy Company that I wish had been included
in the Band of Brothers HBO miniseries
because it demonstrates the harsh and
complicated reality of war.
