Inside the Real Amityville Horror House

In 2010, the real Amityville Horror house located at 108 Ocean Avenue was up for sale. The majority of the pictures below were used to showcase the Dutch Colonial style home, featuring both exterior and interior photos. As you can see from the slideshow, the Amityville house has been significantly renovated since the 1970s. Its once dark shingle siding was replaced with a much lighter shade and the home's iconic eye windows have since been removed, most likely to deter onlookers. In October of 2010, the real Amityville Horror house sold for $950,000. It was purchased by Caroline and David D'Antonio, a retired math teacher. Prior to the sale closing, hundreds of curious fans got a rare glimpse inside the legendary piece of Amityville real estate. The slideshow below is your own chance to take a look inside the Amityville house.

The 2010 sellers put a lot of work into the aging home, as showcased in the slideshow above. The 5 bedroom 3 1/2 bath house, which sits on the Amityville Creek, was originally built in 1927. The sellers restored the sagging boathouse (pictured in the slideshow) and added another sun room to the creek side of the house (also pictured). Despite the gawkers who pass by and occasionally attempt to explore the property, the new owners are thrilled with their purchase. "It is my dream house - our dream house," says David D'Antonio. "There's nothing the matter with it other than the outside people." -Long Island Newsday
