film about Dido Elizabeth Belle, the
biracial daughter of Admiral Sir John
Lindsay, who was raised in the house of
her great uncle, William Murray, 1st Earl
of Mansfield. Murray served as Lord Chief
Justice of England and Wales, and it is
strongly believed that statements he made
as a judge regarding the detriment of
slavery were influenced by his experience
raising Dido. The film stars Tom Felton,
Miranda Richardson, Tom Wilkinson and
newcomer Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Dido.
